The Northwest area held the 2007 Spring NW Area and National meeting in Portland, Oregon June 20-21, 2007 at the Sheraton Portland Airport, Portland, Oregon, hosted by BPA.

On the social agenda there was the Annual APDA NW Golf Tournament, held at Green Meadows Golf Club in Vancouver, WA.  The APDA banquet was held on the evening of June 21, at the Sheraton.

The 2008 NW APDA Spring and National meeting are scheduled to be held in Portland, Oregon, hosted by Portland General Electric.  The tentative dates are June 17-18, 2008 in conjunction with the Spring NWPP meetings.

***** Report of Area President *****

Database work is almost complete.  Thanks to Marck Robinson at Power Data for all his work and a special thanks to Matt Sadinsky for his assistant ace on this project.

Michelle Wynne has contacted me about the CAISO wanting to host a joint meeting for the open slot in the fall of 2009.  The location being suggested is Lake Tahoe.

Meetings continue to be improving and so is attendance.  Please preview your trainer’s courses to be sure they are pertinent to System Operators and to eliminate a lot of repeats.  By adding CEH’s to the meeting agendas, the host utilities ability to show off their company’s programs and projects, sometimes get lost, due to time constraints.  The meetings used to be 2 full days but got shortened to accommodate the NWPP’s time schedule.  Now that the NWPP is out of the picture, the entire meeting is for the APDA items.  We enjoy hearing about various Utilities and it gives a nice break from the NERC training.

A new President will be elected today.

Thank You to Avista Utilities and Warren Maxvill for hosting the Fall NWAPDA 2007 meeting
